OG Kush, also known as «Premium OG Kush,» was first cultivated in Florida in the early 1990s when a Northern California strain of marijuana is reportedly crossed with Chemdawg, Lemon Thai, and a Hindu Kush plant from Amsterdam. The result was a hybrid with a unique terpene profile characterized by a complex aroma with notes of fuel, skunk, and spices. Typically, the abbreviation OG stands for «Original Gangster,» indicating the authenticity or intensity of the strain. OG Kush should have a scent of lemon, pine, and fuel with high THC levels and a mixed head and body effect. It is typically consumed in the later part of the day for stress relief.

With its genetic roots in cannabis strains from the West Coast, OG Kush arrived in Los Angeles in 1996 when Matt «Bubba» Berger brought it (along with «Bubba,» which was later used to create the famous Bubba Kush) from Florida to legendary grower Joshua D. Since then, OG Kush has become a global favorite and has been used to create many well-known strains, such as GSC and Headband. There are numerous different phenotypes of OG Kush, including Tahoe OG, SFV OG, and Ghost OG.
